Biosimilars - Curaxys Has Three Biotechnological Platforms For The Biosimilars / Biogenerics Production

The biosimilars production has been incorporate to the new technological platforms of Curaxys in order to get more competitive processes and products. Curaxys has been pioneer in the use of those technologies, mainly in the baculovirus expression system.

The technological platforms are based on mammalian cell culture, insect cell culture using the baculovirus expression system, and plant cells.

Dr. Esteban, CEO of Curaxys said that the mentioned agreements will provide a very competitive biotechnological process for biosimilars production.

The company is very attractive due to the technology and the importance of the products. Curaxys will invest 40 million € to built up a brand new research center, in order to carry out the research, development and production operations.

Dr. Esteban said that it is relevant to mention that the facilities of the biopharmaceutical pilot plant will be working in a GMP environment, in order to produce the material to be used in clinical research.

Related to the industrial pharmaceuticals activities, Curaxys will manage an injectable pharmaceurical plant for oncology drugs with a capacity for ten million units.

Dr Esteban said that Curaxys has been presented to the Regional Spanish Health Authorities and the Regional R&D Agency and it has been evaluated excellent and both parties are elaborating the protocols and agreement of collaborations.

The activities in the field of clinical research will be planned with the Universities of Cadiz and they will be designed into the University Hospital of the Cadiz Province. The agreements will be signed in short term.
